Private yatras planned around your parents — short drives, rest built in, comfortable stays close to the temple, and wheelchair, palki, pony or helicopter help arranged wherever the route needs it.
The easiest pilgrimages for senior citizens in India are on level ground with short drives: Dwarka–Somnath, the Ujjain–Omkareshwar Jyotirlingas, Varanasi with Prayagraj and Ayodhya, the South India temples and the Golden Temple, all best from October to March. Vaishno Devi, Kedarnath and Yamunotri are possible with a pony, palki or helicopter. Every Itinerary Diary yatra is private, with rest built in.
For many families the most important journey is the one they plan for their parents — a darshan at Kashi Vishwanath, the climb to Maa Vaishno Devi, the Char Dham they have spoken about for years. Elders worry about long drives, crowds, steps and altitude; children worry about whether everything will be handled while they are not there.
We plan private pilgrimages around those worries: one family, one car and driver, hotels chosen for lifts and short walks, early darshan slots where the temple allows, a rest half-day built in, and a team reachable 24×7 — for the travellers and for the family back home or abroad.
Based on the walking, altitude and drive time on each route. Every yatra can be slowed down, split into two trips, or helped with assistance.
| Yatra | Effort for elders | Best time | Days |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dwarka & Somnath | Easy — sea level, short walks; Bet Dwarka by bridge | Oct–Mar | 5 |
| Ujjain & Omkareshwar | Easy — short drives, two hotel bases; Bhasma aarti needs an early start | Oct–Mar | 4 |
| Varanasi, Prayagraj & Ayodhya | Easy — ghat steps and temple queues; boat for the aarti | Oct–Mar | 6–8 |
| South India temples | Easy — queues and heat; TTD has a senior citizens’ darshan facility at Tirumala | Oct–Mar | 8 |
| Golden Temple, Amritsar | Easy — level ground; hotel close to the complex | Oct–Mar | 3–4 |
| Vaishno Devi & Amritsar | Moderate — about 13 km climb from Katra; pony, palki, battery car or helicopter | Oct–Mar | 5 |
| Gangotri & Yamunotri | Moderate — Yamunotri trek of about 5–6 km; pony or palki | May–Jun, Sep–Oct | 6 |
| Do Dham (Kedarnath & Badrinath) | Hardest — Kedarnath at about 3,583 m, 16–18 km trek; helicopter option | May–Jun, Sep–Oct | 7 |
| Char Dham (road or helicopter) | Hardest — altitude and long mountain roads; helicopter yatra in 5–6 days | May–Jun, Sep–Oct | 5–12 |

Yes, with planning. The helicopter Char Dham (about 5–6 days from Dehradun) avoids most of the trekking and long drives; on the road yatra we arrange ponies or palki for Yamunotri and Kedarnath and build in rest nights. A medical check-up is strongly recommended because Kedarnath is at about 3,583 m.
Yes. The climb is about 13 km from Katra, and most elders go by pony, palki, battery car where available, or the helicopter to Sanjichhat. A Shrine Board yatra card (RFID) is required; we help with registration.
Yes — wherever the temple or trail allows it. Wheelchairs are arranged at airports, stations and many temples; palki (doli), ponies and porters on the hill routes.
Some temples run separate facilities for senior citizens and differently-abled devotees — for example TTD at Tirumala — and others offer paid special-entry darshan. Rules, age limits and quotas are set by each temple and change, so we check for your dates and apply where possible.
Yes. Many of our senior travellers come as a couple or with friends. They travel with a private car and driver, we stay in touch daily, and the family receives every booking and update.
Yes. Families in the USA, Canada, the UK, the Gulf and elsewhere book with us over WhatsApp, phone and email; we coordinate pickups from your parents’ home city and keep you updated throughout.
October to March for the plains, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and South India. For the Himalayan shrines, May–June and September–October, when the temples are open and the weather is more settled.
Four to five days for one region, such as Ujjain–Omkareshwar or Dwarka–Somnath; six to eight for Varanasi, Prayagraj and Ayodhya; seven for the Do Dham; ten to twelve for the Char Dham by road. Slower is usually better for elders.
Every yatra is private, so we quote per person after learning your dates, the temples, the hotel tier and any assistance needed — with no hidden charges and a GST invoice.
