Quick answer
The best time to visit the Andaman Islands is October to May, when the seas are calm and clear — ideal for beaches, snorkelling and scuba diving. The June–September monsoon brings rough seas and ferry disruptions, so it's best avoided.
The Andamans are India's tropical island paradise — white sands, turquoise water and superb diving. This guide helps you time your Andaman trip.
Andaman's seasons
- Peak (Oct–May): calm, clear seas; the best window for water activities.
- Winter (Nov–Feb): pleasant and dry — prime time.
- Monsoon (Jun–Sep): rough seas and frequent rain; ferries can be disrupted.
Month-by-month table
| Months | Weather & sea | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Oct–Feb | Pleasant, calm seas | Beaches, diving, snorkelling — prime |
| Mar–May | Warm, humid, calm | Good water clarity; hotter days |
| Jun–Sep | Monsoon, rough seas | Best avoided; ferry disruptions |
Peak season: October to May
This long window offers calm crossings to Havelock and Neil, excellent visibility for diving and snorkelling, and dry beach days. November to February is the most comfortable and popular, so book ferries and resorts ahead.
Monsoon
June to September brings heavy rain and rough seas, and inter-island ferries can be cancelled. Diving and beach time are limited, so we generally advise against monsoon travel to the Andamans.
