It is a different trip rather than a longer one. The seven-day itinerary moves between Udaipur, Jaipur and Jaisalmer at pace. This one visits four places in twelve days — four nights on Lake Pichola, two at a rural palace, two at Jodhpur and two in the desert — with three road legs in total and several days that have nothing scheduled at all. Because a honeymoon that includes the Golden Triangle is a different product and we already build it. Adding Delhi, Agra and Jaipur to this route means three more hotel changes and two more long drives, and it would turn twelve unhurried days into a schedule. Because most couples arrive straight from a wedding and are exhausted, and because Udaipur is the one Rajasthani city that rewards staying still. The second day has nothing in it deliberately. Sightseeing is one morning and one boat; the rest is yours.

Deogarh is a small town in the Aravalli hills between Udaipur and Jodhpur, built around a seventeenth-century hilltop palace that now takes guests. Almost no standard itinerary stops there. It is not a sight to visit — it is two days of rural Rajasthan with a palace to stay in, village country to ride through and no other tourists. It is usually the part couples talk about afterwards.

Distance. Jaisalmer is around five hours each way from Jodhpur, so including it costs two days in the car. Osian is about ninety minutes north of Jodhpur and gives you the same dunes, the same silence and the same luxury tented camps, with the days spent on the sand rather than on the road. If Jaisalmer Fort specifically matters to you we will restructure the trip, but we will be honest about what it costs.

They range from basic to genuinely luxurious and the difference is enormous. The ones we use have proper beds, private bathrooms, air conditioning and heating, and will set up a private dinner out on the dunes with notice. We describe exactly what you are booking rather than showing a stock photograph. Camps generally operate from around October to March only.

Yes, and this is the itinerary where it matters most. A private table on a jetty or terrace in Udaipur, a dinner set up away from the camp on the dunes, a cake or flowers on a particular night. All of it needs notice — a week at minimum, more in peak season — so tell us the dates that matter when you enquire rather than after you arrive.

Sometimes, and we always ask, but we will not promise it because it is the hotel’s decision and depends on how full they are. What we can do reliably is book the right category in the first place — a lake-facing room in Udaipur is worth paying for rather than hoping to be moved into.

Yes, and three of the four stops offer it. Udaipur has island palaces and lake-facing heritage properties, Deogarh is a converted hilltop palace, and Jodhpur has palace-style hotels and restored havelis under the fort. Availability depends on your dates and category, and we name the actual properties in your written quotation before you pay anything.

Three road legs in twelve days: Udaipur to Deogarh about 135 km, Deogarh to Jodhpur about 200 km via Ranakpur, and Jodhpur to Osian about 65 km. None is longer than about five hours including stops. You fly into Udaipur and out of Jodhpur, so no day is spent driving to or from Delhi.

October to March. Days are warm and clear, evenings are cool and the desert camps are open. December and January nights in the Thar are genuinely cold, so bring a warm layer. April to June is very hot across this route and most desert camps close. The monsoon months are green and quiet but the desert night is not the same.

Yes, and this route is a gentle version of it. Four stops, private transfers throughout, English-speaking guides only when you want them, and hotels that are used to international travellers. The one thing to know is that this itinerary does not include the Taj Mahal, so if it is both your first trip to India and you want the classic sights, our Golden Triangle and Rajasthan itineraries are a better fit.

Yes, and many couples do — a week of beach after a week of forts is a good shape for a honeymoon. Kerala and Goa are domestic flights; the Maldives is an international one, usually via Delhi, Mumbai or Bengaluru. Tell us how long you have altogether and we plan the whole thing rather than only the Rajasthan part.

Layers. Rajasthan days in winter are warm and the nights are cold, and the desert swings hardest of all. Modest clothing for temples, comfortable shoes for Mehrangarh and the blue-city lanes, and something you are happy to be photographed in for the boat and the dune dinner. Laundry is available at every stop.

Most nationalities need an Indian e-Visa applied for online in advance. Requirements and processing times change, so check the Government of India e-Visa portal for your own passport before booking flights. If you have changed your surname after marrying, make sure the passport, the visa and the flight booking all match — this catches out more honeymooners than anything else.

There is no fixed price. The cost depends on your travel dates, hotel category and room type, the standard of desert camp, party size and the experiences you add. On a honeymoon the room category makes more difference than anything else, so it is worth telling us your budget honestly. Send us your dates for an itemised quotation with named hotels, usually within one working day.

You share your dates and preferences, we send a tailored itinerary and quotation, and we revise it until it is right. A deposit secures hotels and flights, with the balance due before travel. Every booking comes with a GST invoice and a written cancellation policy, given to you before you pay anything.

Four to six months for October to March, and earlier if your dates are fixed by the wedding. Lake-facing rooms in Udaipur and the better desert camps are the two things that go first, and on this itinerary they are the two things you would most regret missing.
