Ramnagar, the gateway town, is roughly 250 km from Delhi. By private car the drive is six to seven hours in normal conditions, depending mostly on how early you clear the city. There are also direct trains from Old Delhi station — the Sampark Kranti takes about five hours — and your car can meet you at Ramnagar instead.

Three where the permits allow: one on your arrival afternoon, and a morning and an afternoon safari on your full day. A fourth, at dawn on departure day, can be added if a slot is available — ask when you enquire rather than on arrival, because morning slots sell out first.

Whichever zone your permit names, and that depends on the season and on how far ahead we book. Jhirna, Dhela and Garjia are open year-round for day safaris. Bijrani typically opens in mid-October and closes at the end of June. Dhikala, the grassland zone, normally runs mid-November to mid-June and its day entry is tied to an overnight forest rest house stay. The reserve issues new orders each season, so we confirm the current pattern at the time of booking rather than promising a zone here.

Yes. Under the Supreme Court judgment on Corbett of November 2025, enforced from 5 February 2026, mobile phones are not allowed inside the tiger reserve in any zone. They are deposited at the gate. The rule applies to guides, drivers and core-zone staff as well as visitors. DSLRs and professional cameras are permitted, so bring a proper camera if you want photographs.

Dhikala’s forest rest house has a small number of rooms and sells out within days of the seasonal booking window opening. It is bookable only on the official portal, in the guest’s own name, and the rules governing overnight stays have been under review since the 2025 judgment. We will try for it if you want it and tell you plainly whether we have it; we do not sell it as included.

March to mid-June, peaking in April and May, because water concentrates and the vegetation thins. That is also the hottest period, and Dhikala closes in mid-June. Mid-November to February is more comfortable, with better light and lower odds. If sightings are the priority, late March to mid-May is the honest answer.

No operator can promise that and you should be wary of any that does. Corbett is sal forest, grassland and riverbed, and sightings depend on season, zone, luck and a naturalist who reads the forest well. Three safaris in a good zone in the right months gives you a real chance; elephants, deer, birdlife and the forest itself are certainties.

We do, on the official portal, in your name. Corbett permits are non-transferable and non-refundable, so a permit bought through a tout in someone else’s name is a total loss at the gate. There is also a documented practice of diverting visitors to Sitabani or Phato — areas outside the tiger reserve — while telling them it is Corbett. A permit that names a zone inside the reserve is your protection.

As early as you can. The official booking window opens 45 days ahead for Indian nationals and 90 days ahead for foreign passport holders, and the best zones and morning slots go quickly, especially for weekends and the March–May season. Tell us your dates first and we will tell you honestly what is still available.

Yes for older children who can sit quietly in a jeep for three hours at a stretch and manage a pre-dawn start. The reserve is a silence zone. For very young children we would suggest fewer safaris and more time on the river at the lodge, and we can build the days that way.

Neutral, layered clothing; a warm layer for dawn from November to February; a hat and sun protection for the afternoon slot; binoculars; a camera with a long lens and spare batteries, because your phone stays at the gate; and your ID matching the permit.

Easily. Nainital is roughly 65 km and about two hours from Ramnagar. Our five-day Corbett and Nainital route adds two nights at the lake to this break, and it is the family combination we are asked for most.
